Kamuzu International Airport

Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) is the main gateway for the world into Malawi and boasts of having one the best facilities and the most extensive and balanced international network within the region. It is ideally situated in Lilongwe the capital city of Malawi and is 25 kilometers from the City Centre and an hour’s drive to Salima Lake District. It is also an hour’s drive to Kasungu Game Reserve, a tourist destination.

KIA is owned and operated by Airport Developments Limited, a commercial parastatal wholly owned by Malawi Government.

KIA is undergoing expansion and rehabilitation works, which include among other areas the construction of a new Arrivals Hall, Departure Hall and New Duty Free shops and an entirely new Domestic Terminal for Arrivals and Departures.

It is expected that when the project is completed, it will facilitate the smooth movement of passengers and increase the capacity of passengers to be handled.
